On June 15th,2019, the Center for European Studies of GIIS, GDUFS successfully held a seminar on "Sino-EU Relations After the 2019 European Parliament Elections", focusing on the new trends in European politics and China-EU relations after the 2019 European Parliament elections.

Seminar on the Book EU And Global Governance

A number of scholars from the Institute of European Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Foreign Affairs University, Shanghai International Studies University, Sichuan University, Liaoning University and Shanghai University of Political Science and Law attended the seminar in GDUFS, to discuss with scholars from the Center the impact of the EU parliamentary elections on EU's domestic and foreign policies and the future development of Sino-EU relations in the context of the change of leadership of the EU. The experts discussed in-depth issues including European party politics, China-EU economic and trade cooperation and competition, security cooperation, trilateral relationship among China, the United States and the EU, assistance to Africa and global governance. The consensus reached by experts is that under the EU's highly institutionalized system, the European Parliament elections will not lead to a significant change on its policy towards China. For China, the rise of the Green Party and populist parties in European politics has brought challenges and opportunities.
