Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) is a keyprovincial university and a high-tier one with distinctive features ofinternationalization in South China in its education ofinternationally-oriented personnel and its research on foreign languages & culture,international trade and international strategic studies. The University serves20,054 full-time undergraduate students, 2,905 graduate students and over 11,000international and continuing-education students.
Since the establishment of GDUFS, a large number of renownedscholars, such as Liang Zongdai, Gui Shichun and Li Xiaoju, have devoted toteaching and scholarship here, accumulating rich spiritual and cultural wealthfor the University. It has a teaching staff of 1,148, among whom 53.22% arefull or associate professors and 90.85% have masters and/or doctoral degrees.
The University consists of twenty-one faculties that offer 66undergraduate programs in eight disciplines: literature, economics, management,law, engineering, science, education and art studies.

The Universityvalues building research platforms, and has set up four levels of platforms,i.e. national level, provincial level, municipal level and university level. The University boasts Guangdong Institute on InternationalStrategies, sets up Research Institute of International Services Outsourcing,and other 17 research institutes at university level. The University led thebuilding of Guangdong Collaborative Innovation Center for Language Research& Service, and Collaborative Innovation Center for 21st-Century MaritimeSilk Road Studies. Both of them were listed as programs for national “2011collaborative canter” in Guangdong province. GDUFS publishes four academicjournals of national impact: Modern Foreign Languages,International Economics & TradeResearch,Journal ofGuangdong University of Foreign Studies, andJournal of Strategy &decision-Making.
GDUFS attaches great importance to a full range of cooperationand exchanges in international education. To date, it has establishedcooperative ties with more than 305 universities and academic or culturalinstitutions in 43 countries or regions, including the United States, theUnited Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Finland, Iceland,Canada, Australia, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam,Republic of Korea, Chile, Peru, Cuba, Mexico, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, etc.
