Recently, Dr. Lai Xueyi, an associate professor from the Center of European Studies of GIIS, successfully secures the funding of 2020 ERASMUS+ “Jean Monnet Programme” by European Commission, with her research project "New Phase of EU-China relation for 2020-2030" being approved. The project will be launched in September 2020 and will last for 2 years. This marks the second time for the Center of European Studies to win the funding by ERAMUS+ “Jean Monnet Programme”, which shows the praise of European Commission for our efforts in the research and teaching of European Studies.
Introduction to the Programme:
Jean Monnet, a late famous politician from France, enjoying his reputation as the “father of Europe”, was an actively advocate and founder of the European Union. The “Jean Monnet Programme”, named after him, has been a long-term programme launched by the European Commission since 1990 for the sake of promoting the integrated teaching and research in European higher education institutions and encouraging support for the integration process from the intellectual community. There are five types of projects involved in this Programme:the European Module, the Jean Monnet Research Projects, the Jean Monet Chair, the Center of Excellence and the Jean Monet Network. Opening to applicants from all over the world, the “Jean Monnet Programme” is undergoing fierce competitions with strict approval procedures.
