Recently, the Research Center of Guangdong Merchants of GDUFS co-organized a forum on “Los Angeles - Asia-Pacific Research Exchange and Education Development”, with California State University, Los Angeles and De La Salle University of the Philippines. The forum, held in Manila of the Philippines, has attracted over 80 experts and scholars from China, the United States, the Philippines and India. Shen Minghao, director of the Research Center of Guangdong Merchants of GDUFS, and Professor Kuang Guoqiang, Yunshan Scholar, attended the forum.
Mr. Shen addressed the meeting as forum's co-chairman. He noted that the forum was aimed at strengthening research exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and countries in Asian-Pacific region. In order to produce achievements in scientific research and improve capacity of scientific research of graduate students, the forum will foster teams with entrepreneurship and devotion on cultural education research through cross-cultural and cross-regional research cooperation.
The keynote speech of the forum was a serial paper written in collaboration by Shen Minghao and Kuang Guoqiang. The research is conducted through many years' tracking study and has collected thousands of questionnaires from China, the USA and the Philippines. By setting up a theoretical model and multi-layered comparative case analysis of entrepreneurship in three countries, the research has detected differences in behavior characteristics of entrepreneurs with different cultural backgrounds and new phenomenon accompanied by economic developments.
The forum centered on topics of enterprising spirit, entrepreneurship, human resources management, health economics and management, educational technology development and comparative education. Experts and scholars from different disciplines and countries had a thorough exchange of views on the above topics. It is learned that the next forum will be held in GDUFS in April 2013.
The U.S. Institute of Guangdong Merchants was established in Los Angeles, United States in February this year. The establishment of the institute was initiated by Research Center of Guangdong Merchants of GDUFS and was jointly launched by many university professors in Los Angeles, California, local government officials, Chinese businessmen president, senior executives in investment banking and famous advisory services, as well as well-known local Cantonese businessmen. It aims at connecting with overseas Cantonese businessmen resources, emphasizing Guangdong businessmen culture and management innovation research and practice, implementing the prosperity plan of philosophy and social sciences and promoting the globalizing of key research bases of humanities and social sciences.
