In the afternoon of May 7th, Chen Dong, the mayor of Jieyang and Zheng Songbiao, the vice mayor of Jieyang, led a team to Guangdong University of Foreign Studies to talk about the strategic cooperation between Jieyang City and GDUFS. Zhong Weihe, president of the university and Gu Yeli, vice president of the university, met with the visitors. Liu Zhijun, director of party office, Li Qing, secretary-general of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies, and Xie Yingdong, general manager of Education Group also attended the meeting.
First of all, Chen Dong introduced the basic situation of Jieyang. Then, he introduced the Jieyang’s plan to promote foreign trade and help enterprises seek opportunity in the crisis. He said that GDUFS was a university with international feature and there was a huge potential for the cooperation between GDUFS and Jieyang.
Zhong Weihe thanked Jieyang City’s support to and interest in GDUFS on behalf of the university. He said that GDUFS is an important base cultivating talents with global vision, studying foreign languages and culture and international trade, and researching international strategies. He agreed with Jieyang’s development strategy and said that the school would further integrate its quality resources and strengthen cooperation with Jieyang, so as to contribute to the economic and trade development of Jieyang.
Then, both sides further negotiated relevant details and agreed to sign a strategic cooperation agreement in the near future.
