On the morning of Sep. 20, Professor Qiu Haixiong of Sun Yat-sen university, director of Institute for Social Development, vice president of the Pearl River Delta Reform and Development Research Institute and doctoral supervisor of Sociology, explained the research results of the "Pearl River Delta industrial transformation and upgrading”. Professor Qiu elaborated on the industrial restructuring and upgrading from the theoretical aspects on the basis of empirical research, and analysed the industrial structure systematically from macro, meso and micro perspectives. He finally gave policy evaluation and suggestions, which enabled the audience of a deeper understanding of the theory and practice of industrial structure.

In the afternoon, Fang Lixu, the head of the Seminar, member of Standing Committee of the CPC Chaozhou Municipal Committee and the executive vice-mayor, led to visit the Luogang High-tech Development Zone and Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute. In the Experience Hall of the Management Committee of the High-tech Zone, the visitors learned the achievements and direction of the new cultural industry, and felt the combining forces of technology and culture. In the Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute, they learned much frontier knowledge through the exhibition of new technology for power generation, network information technology, power grid technology and measuring technology. In the discussion after the visit, they commented the visit as a rewarding and meaningful tour of knowledge.
