From Nov. 15th to 16th , Prof. Xiao Yaofei, the chief research fellow of GRIIS, Prof. Liang Lijun, the research fellow of GRIIS and Prof. Liu Jisen, deputy secretary general of GRIIS, attended the conferences held in Jiulonghu Hotel by Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangdong Province. The meeting was hosted by Chen Yuehua, deputy director general of the Department.
On the afternoon of Nov. 15th, He Manqing, director of Multinational Corporation Research Center of Department of Commerce, gave a special lecture on “how to attract investments in a scientific way” to the cadres from all cities of Guangdong. Director He stated clearly about what investments to attract and sum up the problems into three disciplines and eight points for attention. She also put great emphasis on details.
After the lecture, UNIPRO (Guangzhou) Investment Promotion Co., Ltd presented the idea of attracting investment by Weibo and introduced the way of participation.
On the morning of Nov. 16th, a forum was jointly held by overseas commerce agencies in Guangdong, the world top 500 corporations and multinational corporations. Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong, ABB, representatives of European Union Chamber of Commerce, CEO of SIEMENS(South China), Jardine Matheson (China) Co., Ltd, French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China and Guangzhou Representative Office of Japan External Trade Organization all put forward their problems about investing in Guangdong, after which departments of Guangdong government responded to the questions.
On the afternoon of Nov. 16th, Briefing of Guangdong Foreign Trade Situation in 2012 was convened. Attended are Guo Yuanqiang, director of Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, officials from foreign embassies in Guangzhou and representatives of the foreign trade and economic cooperation system from other cities in Guangdong. Above all, Director Guo gave a briefing in four aspects about the form of foreign trade and economic cooperation of Guangdong from January to October, 2012. Firstly, Guangdong has made every effort to maintain the export and enlarge import. Secondly, Guangdong has been promoting the transformation of the pattern of foreign trade. Thirdly, Guangdong has been improving the standard of “bringing-in” and “going-out”. Lastly, Guangdong has enhanced the construction of globalized and legalized business environment. After that, Weldon Epp, Canadian consul-general in Guangzhou and Zhou Yu, general manager of Cargill (China) Investment Co., Ltd also gave their speeches. The atmosphere was active during the Q&A section due to the humorous and witty answers of Chen Yuehua, vice director of Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. The two-day conferences were successfully concluded.
