On Mar 29th, the 23rd Session of Yunshan Academic Salon cohosted by the Research Department of GDUFS and Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies was held at the International Conference Hall of the Administrative Building in North Campus. Invited to the salon was Professor Wang Shouyang, director of Center for Forecasting Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Youth of the Nation and “Zhujiang Scholar” chair professor of GDUFS. He attended to share the experience about the building and cooperation of scientific research teams.
Also attended were Sui Guangjun, secretary of CPC committee of GDUFS, people in charge and core members of the scientific research teams of GDUFS. Li Qing, secretary general of GRIIS, hosted the salon.

The Salon
Wang Shouyang attributed the success of scientific research teams to cross-discipline research methods. To illustrate his opinion, he took the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of CAS for an example. In the project of National Grain Yield Prediction, research teams of CAS predict the grain yield six months in advance on the basisi of economics and statistics, which achieved great breakthrough in agricultural science.

As for his recent research, Wang Shouyang illustrated from four aspects the mechanism, warning and regulation of the social and economic security. They are respectively macro-economy security, financial security, food or population security and energy security. To cope with the huge scientific challenge China is facing, he also planned to establish a platform for comprehensive assessment, monitoring and early warning of the social security for the policy analysisi and scientific decision making of the government departments.
After a brief break, participants of the salon moved to the 3rd Conference Room for the Q&A session. Wang Shouyang raised a key point called “BRICE”, respectively stands for behavior, risk, integration, culture and e-management. Research fellows were encouraged to probe into the issues of social sciences from these five aspects.
