Fu Lang Speaking of International Situation
Speaking of the international situation in 2012, Fu Lang gave an analysis in four aspects. Firstly, the European debt crisis had exerted negative effects on the world finance. Secondly, as the US had taken strategic measures to return to the Asia-Pacific region, greater emphasis was put on this issue. Thirdly, the fact that financial crisis turned into administrative crisis showed that economic issues to some extent affected social issues, which was most apparent in Europe. Fourthly, every country should figure out its own way in such a world filled with fierce ideological collision.

The Seminar
Northeast Asia Situation at a Turning Point While Inter-Korean Relations at a Simmer
According to Fu Lang, since Kim took office in North Korea, more emphasis had been put on the transparency of information and the development of economy and nuclear power. Not only has inter-Korean relations at a simmer, but Sino-Korea relation was also chilled. Since Park took office in South Korea, however, the national consciousness had been strengthened and national industries had been developing vigorously. The current task for South Korea was to develop economy in a steady way and cope with the tense situation on the Korean Peninsula. Japan is still trying to joint the United Nations security council as a permanent member and follow the USA in specific policies.
Competitions between Leading Powers: the US and Russia Further Inflencing China
The United States is now recovering domestic economy in spite of the financial trauma. Though the situation has turned out better, the heavy debt began to be unendurable. The fiscal cliff is shown through domestic debt and relfected as economic downturns worldwide especially in Europe. As for diplomacy, the US adopted the policy of mentaining good relationship with European countries and returning to the Asia-Pacific region for rebalance. When it came to the Sino-American relation, Fu Lang stressed that the economic relationship could not be overlooked becaues it is the core for the relationship.
Russia, as the first visiting country after Chairman Xi took office, undoubtedly became the wind indicator of China’s diplomacy. The Sino-Russian relation has been through a triple jump, from cooperation to strategic cooperation and then to comprehensive strategic collaboration, manifesting great potential in economic cooperation between the two countries. Although there are conflicts, thry should not affect the friendly cooperation on the basis of social stability. Russia paye much attention to social stability and corruption punichment through laws. Its overall foreign policy could be concluded as “holding the south, steadying the west and moving forward to the east”.
By the end of the lecture, Professor Fu Lang appealed to all students of GDUFS to lay good foundation for future career, including professional basis, comprehensive basis and social basis. He strongly advised that students should make efforts to broaden their horizons intead of being a bookworm.
After the seminar, Sui Guangjun presented Fu Lang with gifts to express gratitude on the behalf of GDUFS.
