Ashok Gurung, Director of Research institute of China and India of the New School, US, Visited GRIIS and Talked on Program Cooperation

On June 27th, Mr. Ashok Gurung, director of Research institute of China and India of the New School, US, visited GRIIS. Prof. Zhao Bole of Yunnan University, Mr. Hu Rui, teacher of the Hindi Department of Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures of GDUFS, Mr. Zhou Peng from International Exchange Department, Prof. Li Qing, secretary general of GRIIS, Prof, Liu Jisen and Cai Hong, deputy secretary generals of GRIIS, attended the meeting. The two sides talked on program cooperation between the Center for Indian Studies of GRIIS and Research institute of China and India of the New School.
Prof. Li Qing first welcomed Mr. Gurung on behalf of GRIIS and introduced GDUFS and GRIIS in detail. She specially mentioned that GRIIS had always paid high attention to Indian studies and hoped to established an academic platform to attract scholars around the world to come and do research on India.
Mr. Gurung thanked Prof. Zhao Bole on the promotion of the cooperation between the two sides and introduced the New School and Research institute of China and India. He mentioned the three main directions of the Institute: Sino-Indian relation in the 21st century, the dialectical relationship between economic prosperity and social integration, and the development of social innovation in China and India. He said that many students who were interested in Sino-Indian relation would like to visit GDUFS, and he welcomed young scholars of GDUFS to visit the New School. At last, he talked on the Sino-Indian Academic Forum which would be held in November this year and hoped all sides would participate to discuss the program cooperation.
The participants also introduced the Hindi Department and the exchange program between GDUFS and other American universities. They hoped to create more flexible ways of cooperation (e.g. dual degree) and closer relationship. The two sides exchanges ideas on the future cooperation and agreed to put details into practice as soon as possible.
