The First Meeting of the Collaborative Innovation Center for Guangdong “Going-Global” Studies was Held

After one year’s preparation, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Guangdong “Going-Global” Studies (CICGGS) held the first meeting in the meeting room of GRIIS. The participants include Sui Guangjun, secretary of CPC of GDUFS, Shi Youqi, vice president of GRIIS, and other leaders and experts from the relative departments. The meeting was held by Li Qing, secretary general of GRIIS.

The meeting focused on the development thought, direction and mechanism of the Center. The representatives discussed on how to integrate resources of the departments to realize collaborative innovation and complement each other's advantages. Wang Shouyang, director of Forecasting Research Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences, suggested that the Center promote the combination of governments, enterprises, academics and research and give practical solutions to enterprises. Huo Jianguo, president of Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Commerce, thought it was important to distinguish the domestic and international issues. He pointed out that the Center should focus on how to introduce competition mechanism and combine theory and practice. The Center should actively conduct basic research and keep daily statistics. Besides, it should hold forum of the achievement exhibition in order to expand influence and gain advice from the enterprises.
The representatives had a heated discussion to provide advice for the future development of the Center. Hu Hao, deputy director of Center for Contemporary World Studies of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, hoped the Center would keep close relation with relative departments and would like to give full support to the development of the Center. He Zumin, vice-general manager of Southern Publishing and Media Company Limited, approved the strategic meaning of the establishment of the Center from the perspective of cultural going-global and promised to give publicity support and resource reference with the advantage of the company.

Sui Guangjun appreciated the support and advice by the representatives in the conclusion. He said the GRIIS aimed to build the Center into an independent local civil think-tank. “Today is the start of new challenges.” He pointed out that GDUFS would promote the reform in the mechanism to promote the development of the Center and the University.

Before the meeting, the representatives visited GRIIS under the guidance of Cai Hong, deputy secretary general of GRIIS, and learned the history and talents cultivation system.
