On the morning of February 28th, Prof. Liu Jisen, deputy secretary general of GRIIS, and Prof. Chen Wanling, researcher of GRIIS, were invited to attend the Academic Forum on the Construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, which was jointly held by the Publicity Department of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences. Wen Xianyuan, vice-president of Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences presided over the forum, and Wang Jun, vice-president of Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences made a speech at the beginning of the forum. The total number of participants including representatives from relevant departments of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial government, colleges and universities and scientific research institutions is nearly one hundred.
During this forum, six experts, whose projects were assigned by the Publicity Department of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, reported their research results, and then the experts and scholars had an interactive discussion. Li Qingxin, director of Institute of Historical Research of Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences reported on the topic of "inheriting civilization, developing peacefully and creating new glories".
During the interactive discussion, it is agreed that the Maritime Silk Road research needs both active response and calm thinking; otherwise it will cause a lot of bubbles and chaos.
