The Inaugural Meeting of the Council of GRIIS and Its First Working Conference was held on May 29. With the approval of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Zhao Yufang, vice governor of People’s Government of Guangdong Province, will hold the concurrent post as director of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies (GRIIS) and the first president of the Council of GRIIS. Other participants include Liu Xiaojie, deputy secretary general of People’s Government of Guangdong Province, Sui Guangjun, the Party secretary of GDUFS, Zhong Weihe, president of GDUFS, Gu Yeli, vice president of GDUFS, and other members and representatives of the Council of GRIIS. The conference was chaired by Sui Guangjun.

GRIIS has been regarded as an important think tank of Guangdong Province to conduct international strategy research and enhance opening up to the outside world for more than four years since it was founded. The establishment of this Council is a milestone for strengthening the development of GRIIS, integrating resources and functions, and better serving for the international development of Guangdong Province.
Zhao Yufang holds the concurrent post as director of GRIIS and the first president of the Council of GRIIS
During her speech, Zhao Yufang expressed that since its foundation GRIIS had played a positive role as a local think tank and made important contributions to the local and even national economic and social progress. The establishment of the Council will offer a broader platform for the innovative development of GRIIS. She also put forward new goals for the future development, namely, improving service ability of decision making, promoting strategy research, and enhancing international influence.
Besides, Zhao Yufang hoped the vice presidencies to support the construction and development of GRIIS as always and actively make suggestions for international strategy research.
Sui Guangjun summarized the work of GRIIS in the past four years
During the conference, Sui Guangjun, executive deputy director of GRIIS, summarized the work of GRIIS in the past four years. GRIIS has finished more than half a hundred government policy-making consulting research reports and its scientific research projects have won many awards. GRIIS has conducted researches together with some renowned institutions both at home and abroad and accumulated a lot of top talents. He also talked about the future plan of GRIIS and believed that GRIIS would continue to contribute to the internationalization development strategy of Guangdong.
The conference passed some important documents such as “Regulations of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies”. At the end of the meeting, Zhao Yufang, on behalf of GRIIS, presented letters of appointment to vice presidents and deputy directors and issued plaques to the vice presidencies.
