In the morning of July 19, at the invitation of Provincial Publicity Department, Sui Guangjun, the Party secretary of GDUFS and the executive deputy director of GRIIS, delivered a lecture to the 40th and 41st Seminar for Backbone Teachers and Researchers of Philosophy and Social Science of Guangdong Province. He made a thematic speech on “The Core Meaning and Strategic Significance of the Construction of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and Advice on Guangdong’s Participation”. The participants include backbone teachers and researchers of philosophy and social science of Guangdong Province and vice directors of Publicity Departments from different counties (towns and districts).
Sui Guangjun Made a Speech
First, Sui Guangjun thoroughly analyzed the historical background of the construction of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
According to his field research in Africa and Southeast Asia, Sui Guangjun analyzed the attitudes and reactions of neighboring countries and world-renowned think-tanks towards Maritime Silk Road, which he summarized as “having acknowledgement and doubts, worries and expectations”. Based on this, he pointed out the core meaning and strategic significance of 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. He proposed that Silk Road has never been a fixed, tangible road. It is a road for economic and trade cooperation and a road for cultural, scientific and technological exchange, which reflects equality among ethnic groups and inclusive humanistic spirit.
Centered on national strategies and practical situation of Guangdong Province, Sui Guangjun made some advice on Guangdong’s participation in the construction of Maritime Silk Road. Guangdong should actively implement national strategies and economic and trade transformation.
