China and South Asian Countries Discussed on the Development of Maritime Silk Road from Different Perspectives

At 9:00 a.m. of November 12, the symposium on the topic of “Building the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road: Perspectives from China and South Asian Countries” was held in the Administration Building on North Campus of GDUFS. Chang Jiuqing, Deputy Director of Bangladesh-Pakistan-Sri Lanka Department of the First Division of International Department Central Committee of CPC, representatives from seven South Asian countries, He Chuantian, the vice-president of GDUFS and director of Collaborative Innovation Center for Guangdong "Going-Global" Studies and scholars of GRIIS attended this meeting, which was chaired by Li Qing, executive deputy director of Collaborative Innovation Center for Guangdong "Going-Global" Studies.

He Chuantian remarked that the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road would lead China and the neighboring countries to common prosperity, and China would share the fruits of development with other countries along the road. Besides, with openness and inclusiveness, this road would boost the construction of a united world market.

Zhou Fangyin, Director of Center for Neighboring Strategy Studies and researcher of GRIIS shared his ideas about the relationships between China and the neighboring countries. “The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” will give opportunities to developing the relationships between China and South Asian countries, fueling the development of countries along the road and propelling the transformation of the international system.

Sedek Siddique, Assistant General Secretary of National Party and head of the Workshop for Party Cadres of the South Asian countries, said that China had been a good friend of Bangladesh. He also pointed out that the China-Bangladesh relationship would be more closer, and Bangladesh would make a concerted effort at common development of two sides.

Later, the party cadres deputies of South Asian countries and scholars of GDUFS delivered speeches, expressing their hopes and making suggestions on the construction of “Maritime Silk Road”. He Chuantian gave a summary speech and conferred the certificates to the deputies in the seminar.

He Chuantian met the deputies from the seven South Asian countries in VIP Hall of the Administration Building before the seminar officially started.
