The Annual Mid-term Debriefing of Academic Researches of GRIIS was Held

On September 28th, 2010, the annual mid-term debriefing of academic researches received a grand opening in the 3rdConference Room in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. The participants include Gu Yeli, vice-president of GDUFS, the judging panel (including Zhou Wengui, editor ofGDUFS Academic Paper, Li Qing, secretary-general of Guangdong International Institute for Strategic Studies and Li Yongning, editor ofGISS International News), and representatives of the academic research projects in 2010. Li Qing hosted the debriefing.

In the very beginning, Gu Yeli gave an opening remark. He pointed out that the debriefing provided an important platform for the communication among project leaders and brought out better understanding of the current progress of the projects. He hoped that all research teams could finish their tasks in accordance with the requirements of GRIIS and cooperate closer with each other. Gu also expressed sincere gratitude towards the support from experts and team members.

After the opening remarks, Li Qing elaborated on the next-stage tasks for all projects. She said that the 11 projects of GRIIS had already drawn the attention of the government and some relevant official departments. Some crucial results might be published as books. She wished success to all projects and a more intimate relation between research projects and soft science.

The second session of the debriefing, which was also the most crucial partt, is the mid-term reports from project leaders. Project representatives from South China University of Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Guangdong Academy of Social Science gave their reports respectively, including a 10-minute presentation and a 5-minute Q&A session with the judging panel.

At the end of the debriefing, the judging panel gave an evaluation based on the performance of the reporters and provided some advices. The panel emphasized that the projects were supposed to serve for government’s decision-making, and should be examined by the current circumstances of Guangdong Province.

The 11 projects are supposed to be finished before the end of November.
