On February 23, 2011, Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies held the 2011 annual conference, discussing on the working ideas, plans and focuses for the Institute and the research centers. Sui Guangjun, the secretary of the Party Committee of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies as well as the executive deputy director of GRIIS, Gu Yeli, the vice president of the GDUFS, professor Meng Qingxuan, the Yunshan scholar as well as the director of MBA center, and the faculty of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies attended the meeting. Liu Jisen, the deputy secretary of the Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies hosted the meeting.
Gu Yeli, the vice president, made the opening remarks. First, he praised the work undertaken by the Institute in the past one year. He emphasized that the Institute should grasp opportunities to contribute to our society. At the same time, he also hoped that in the next working phase, the institute would find out problems and make adjustments for a greater progress in the acquisition of high-end talents and projects, the internal management and the mechanism construction of the Institute and other aspects.
Later, Li Qing, the secretary-general also introduced the working ideas and plans for the Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies. Then, Yang Shaogang, the executive editor of "Studies on Strategic Decisions", Li Yongning, the chief editor of "Trends of the International Affairs" and director of the Research Center of the Urbanization and International City, professor Cai Hong, director of Center for European Studies, professor Tang Xiaosong, director of Center for US Studies attended the meeting. Professor Meng Qingxuan, the Yunshan scholar and director of MBA center put forward important advice for the developing strategies and future profit patterns.
Sui Guangjun, Party secretary of GDUFS, made a conclusion. He said the work of the Institute was very demanding, but we must overcome it. Two colleges and two bases are the major work later. At last, he put forward the related requirements for the Institute.
