On October 29th, the Sino-Vietnam Reform and Development Forum was held in the Eastern Hotel. This forum was host by Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences and Ho Chi Minh National Political Administrative Institute. More than 70 Chinese and Vietnamese government officials, scholars and enterprisers took part in the forum. The topic of the forum is: Economic and Trade Cooperation and Development under the Framework of ASEAN Tree Trade Area. Professor Yang Shaogang, editor of"The strategic decision"of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies and Professor Liu Jisen, Deputy Secretary-general, and ASEAN experts of the Institute, and Professor Lin Minghua, senior scholar in Vietnam issues attended the forum.
Professor Yang Shaogang made a speech on the “Strategic Aanalysis and Rational Thinking of FDI in Vietnam”, and focused on the topics of investment opportunities, investment interest and comparative advantages, the experience of the international direct investment of state policy and national management. The unique perspective of thinking aroused scholar’s great interest.
The topics involved investment, border trade, industrial transfer, enterprise reform, regional division of labor, system reform, education, tourism, etc. Both sides expressed views on the opportunities and challenges brought by the cooperation, and made further discussions on how to strengthen cooperation and achieve a win-win situation.
Both sides expressed the hope that the forum, which was both theoretical and practical, could continue, and become the platform for Sino-Vietnam development research. Long term cooperation can be achieved through discussion and integration.
