Guangzhou Municipal Government Held a Seminar on "Building Guangzhou into the International Business Center"

On March 10, 2011, according to the instruction of Zhang Guangning, member of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Province and secretary of Guangzhou Party Committee, Guangzhou municipal government held a seminar on "Guangzhou Building the International Business Center". Professor Li Qing, secretary-general of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies and the research team member Liu Li delivered important speeches respectively. The main leaders and relevant officials from Guangzhou Provincial Economy and Trade Commission, the Guangdong Provincial Economy and Informationization Commission, Guangzhou Development and Reform Commission, Human Affairs Bureau, and Industrial and Commercial Bureau and Finance Office attended the meeting.

"Building Guangzhou into the international business center" is the major project of social science undertaken by our university in 2010. This project is accomplished by professor Sui Guangjun, the Party secretary of GDUFS, and other professors under his lead. They are professor Li Qing, Liu Jisen, Liu Li, Fu Qiufang and Li Tieli. The completion of the project, as the major social scientific research achievement in Guangzhou, attracted highly attention from provincial and municipal leaders, who summoned relevant departments to discuss on the future work of building Guangzhou into an international business center.

At the meeting, Li Qing, the secretary-general of GRIIS, made a brief introduction of the research background. Then, team member professor Liu Li introduced the main research achievement.

Their speeches elicited enthusiastic responses from other delegates of the meeting. Later, officials from the National Development and Reform Commission, Human Affairs Bureau, etc. exchanged their views on the challenges and opportunities in building Guangzhou as the international business center.

After the meeting, the delegates of the meeting regarded this seminar as a successful interaction between the academics and governments and expressed their willingness to learn from the achievements of the research and combine it with the conditions of the local departments to formulate working outline for the municipal leaders.
