Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies and Southern Daily Discussed on Media Brand Promotion Plan

February 28, 2011, Professor Li Qing, secretary-general of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies, and Ms. Mei Zhiqing, the chief correspondent journalist and deputy director of the Politics News Center of Nanfang Daily discussed on the media brand promotion plan. The participant also include Professor Hu Wentao, director of the Minister of Propaganda Department of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Liu Jisen, the deputy secretary general of GRIIS, professor Li Yongning, the chief editor of "Trends of the International Affairs", professor Tang Xiaosong, director of Center for US Studies, Cai Hong, Professor of Center for European Studies, and Zhang Shengbo, the reporter of the Nanfang Daily, etc.

Both sides discussed about establishing the International News Comment Column, and would like to use it as the core content of the media brand promotion plan. The delegates agreed that the column should be strategic, foresighted, prompting and theoretical. It should be built as the brand column through establishing efficient and quick operation mechanism. They also discussed the name and the preliminary theme of the column.

It is decided that with the settlement of the cooperation column program, both sides will focus on reports on finance, the EU issues, public diplomacy, urban design and modernization and “Five Years of Retrospection of Guangdong and the World ". Special efforts should be spared to build the column as a high-end academic platform and brand column spreading international strategic practice, theory and ideas.
