On October 12th, "the 10thAnniversary of China's Entry into WTO and Symposium on Opening, Development, and Innovation" was held in Shenzhen by Guangdong Provincial Government. Zhao Yufang, the vice governor of Guangdong province, Yi Xiaozhun, the ambassador of China's Permanent Delegation to the WTO, Xu Qin, mayor of Shenzhen, Liang Yaowen, director general of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Department of Guangdong attended the meeting and made speeches. Sui Guangjun, the Party secretary of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, the executive deputy director of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies, was invited as symposium guest to present the meeting and made an keynote speech titled "the Influence and Enlightenment of China's Entry into WTO to the Economic and Trade Development of Guangdong and Measures for the Development Transition in the Future".
Sui Guangjun thought the influences were reflected in the following: 1. The entry to WTO promoted the striding development of economy and trade of Guangdong which helped the rise of economy in China. 2. The entry stimulated the development of the traditional labor-concentrated industry in Guangdong, which resolved employment pressure for redundant labor force in the countryside and helped the transition of China's society. 3. The entry optimizes the trade structure of Guangdong and promoted the upgrading of industrial structure, which helped the establishment of modern industrial system in China. 4. The entry extended room for economic and trade cooperation of Guangdong and laid foundation to the development of export-oriented economy of Guangdong. 5. The entry raised labor productivity and improved the living standards of Chinese people, which was in line with the concepts of people-oriented and scientific development.
Sui Guangjun hoped that Guangdong would aim at sustainable development in the spirit of openness, reform and innovation and strengthen cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to realize the transition in economic and trade development. The measure are: participating actively in the multidirectional international economic cooperation, adjusting goals for foreign trade development and taking active importing strategy, promoting diversification of the exporting market and acceleration the development of service and trade, utilizing foreign investment creatively and raising the pace of "going-out" strategy.
