On the morning of September 28th, under the support of International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, representatives of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies launched the international research cooperation with the representatives of Newcastle University of Australia in the Third Meeting Room of Administration Building. The meeting was on how to carry out the project of "the restructuring research of subsidiaries of foreign multi-national firms and Chinese local firms in Guangdong".
This project is another breakthrough in international cooperation of GDUFS after the European Union project. Sui Guangjun, the Party secretary of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and the executive deputy director of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies, and Prof. Stephen Nicholas, vice president of Newcastle University would be the project leaders. This project is funded by the TEI Group of Australia and will promote the governmental cooperation between Guangdong province and South Wales of Australia. The achievements include the consulting reports for government, the papers published in international journals. They will provide support and references for the policy-making of Guangdong province and South Wales of Australia.
On the meeting, Prof. Li Qing, Secretary-general of GRRIIS, Liang Jie, deputy director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Prof. Li Tieli, the director of School of International Trade and Economics, Doctor Fu Miao of GDUFS, Doctor Yuan Jing, Prof. Stephen Nicholas, vice president of Newcastle University, Shi Yuhua, the director on China business development of International Department, and Professor John Dai, the general manager of TEI Group made further discussions on the specific aspects of the project.
In the discussion, Stephen Nicholas highly appreciated the first-phase preparations of the research team of GRIIS. The two sides settled the time table for the project and put forward the future research topics based on this project.
It is reported that the launch of this project is a critical step after the cooperation agreement signed by the two universities. GRIIS hopes this cooperation will provide a platform for the professors and experts in GDUFS and cultivate teachers who can publish papers in international journals, conduct international studies and possess international visions, so as to improve the ability of the university to serve for the society and the economy.
