Mexican Consul General in Guangzhou Paid First Visit to GDUFS

On April 11th, David Najera, Consul General of Mexico in Guangzhou paid first visit to GDUFS at the invitation of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies. Vice President Fang Fanquan welcomed David and other visitors at the VIP Hall on North Campus.

Firstly, Mr. Fang introduced them GDUFS' history of development, features of operating and related information on the study of South America. Besides, he mentioned the cooperation memorandum signed with Puebla Autonomous University of Mexico last year. The two Universities will exchange three students this year. Mr. Fang showed his expectation for further partnership with Puebla Autonomous University.

Mr. Najera responded GDUFS' welcome with sincere thanks and willingness to strength the related cooperation between Mexican Universities and GDUFS during his office. Later he spoke of Puebla Autonomous University's great emphasis on the study of Southern China's economic development, in which Guangzhou took the lead. He hoped his visit would facilitate two researchers from Puebla Autonomous University to come to GDUFS to study.

After the meeting, Mr. Fang and Mr. Najera exchanged gifts.

Then Mr. Najera had a talk with Li Qing, Secretary General of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies (GRIIS) in the Second Conference Hall. Liu Jisen, Deputy Secretary General of the Institute and Li Yongning, chief editor of "Trends of the International Affairs" also attended the meeting.

Li Qing first introduced GRIIS' basic situation and hoped for partnership and interaction on the discussion of economic problems and trade affairs between GRIIS and research institutes in Mexico.

Mr. Najera tcommented that Sino-Mexico trade had an accelerated development in recent years but still showed a big deficit. He expected a bigger market of Mexican commodity in China. Meanwhile, he wished a mature relationship of Sino-Mexico trade with a better partnership between GRIIS and Mexico's related research institutes. He said that the consulate would donate some Spanish books for students majoring Spanish of GDUFS. He would like some related lectures on Mexico to be held for them.

Li Qing showed great thanks to Consulate General of Mexico for the support to GDUFS' Spanish teaching. She hoped that GRIIS would be the bridge for Mexicans to know more about China.
