On the afternoon of November 10th, Guangdong Low Carbon Development International Forum was held in Guangdong Hotel. The forum was host by Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies and Provincial Promotion council for Low Carbon Development. Participants of the meeting include Su Wei, director of Climate Change Division of National Development and Reform Committee, Lin Yaojun, division chief of Resources and Environment Division of Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Committee, Li Chunhong, deputy secretary general of Guangdong Provincial Government, and experts and scholars such as Wang Jian, vice-general manager of Guangye Co., Lit., Zhao Daiqing, Zhou Nan and Jeff Swartz.
This forum aimed to publicize the achievements of the trial work of low carbon province in China and discuss the thoughts and methods of accelerating the development of low carbon, in order to provide advice and directions to Guangdong in dealing with climate change and practicing creatively to realize low carbon development. Su Wei pointed out the achievements of China on coping with the climate change. China should effectively control green house gas emission and accomplish the goals so that make the contributions to the world. Lin Yaojun introduced the trial work of low carbon Chinese province in Guangdong. With the steady progression of work, a solid foundation had been laid for larger achievements of low carbon development in Guangdong. In the following year, the focus will be on the promotion of carbon emission trading and the perfection of the system of low carbon trial work. Zhao Daiqing said the basic studies should be done for the support of the low carbon development in Guangdong.
Li Chunhong emphasized that the low carbon trail work of China served for the core work of "accelerating transition and upgrading and building happy Guangdong". It will be a new motor for the exploration of Guangdong on the pattern of low carbon development. Guangdong will stick to the national work plan and thoroughly apply the scientific outlook on development. It will promote the trial work and accumulate experience on low carbon development to build a pioneering area of low carbon development, a demonstration plot of green development, and a pilot site of scientific development in China, to contribute to the goal of controlling green house gas emission.
