In the morning of May 19th, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies signed a comprehensive strategic cooperative frame agreement with Jieyangmunicipal government, which marks the official establishment of a strategic cooperative relation between the two. According to the agreement, GDUFS is going to cooperative with Jie Yang in areas like scientific research, information exchange, talent cultivation, and education, the going out of enterprises, the city’s internationalization and transformation and upgrading of foreign business.
The ceremony was hosted by Lin Lijiao, deputy mayor of Jieyang. Attendants from Jieyang included: Chen Lvping, party chief & director of Municipal People’s Congress of Jieyang, Chendong, deputy party secretary & mayor of Jieyang, Wang Dekun, deputy director of Municipal People’s Congress of Jieyang, Zheng Songbiao, deputy major and Zhou Xinquan, vice chairman of CPPCC of Jieyang. Administrative leaders from GDUFS attended the ceremony, including Zhong Weihe, president of GDUFS, Gu Yeli, vice president of GDUFS, Liu Zhijun, director of Party Office, Li Tieli, director of School of International Trade and Economics, Sun Xiaoqin, director of MBA Center of GDUFS & director of Research Institute of International Services Outsourcing, Chen Wanling, director of Research Center for International Trade and Economics, Li Qing, secretary general of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies, Xie Weiguang, secretary of Alumni Association and Li Jingping, director of School History Room.
In the ceremony, Mayor Chen lvping and President Zhong Weihe gave their speech respectively. In his speech, Mr. Chen mentioned that GDUFS was an important base for talent cultivation, foreign studies, foreign economy & trade and international strategies research. The University had contributed to the development of regional economy. The strategic cooperation between the two is a pragmatic and creative move that can help the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade in Jieyang.
Zhong Wei expressed his confidence of the future cooperation between GDUFS and Jieyang city. As a famous hometown for overseas Chinese, Jieyang enjoys abundant external resources in foreign business. He thought the cooperation between the GDUFS and Jieyang is a new starting point for the two to complement each other and development together. Therefore, GDUFS would take concrete steps to practice the agreement and provide intellectual support for Jieyang’s development.
