Model APEC Conference 2012 was Held in GDUFS

In the evening of May 21st, Model APEC Conference 2012, co-hosted by Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies and Osgood Center for International Studies from America, was held in the First Meeting Room in Academic Center in South Campus. 120 delegates from America and China took part in the conference.

The conference was chaired by Prof. Tang Xiaosong, director of US Studies Center. Prof. Gu Yeli, vice president of GDUFS, Prof. Shelton Williams, director of Osgood Center for International Studies and Li Jisen, deputy secretary general of GRIIS attended the conference. Prof. Gu and Prof. Williams gave keynote speeches in the opening ceremony respectively.

Prof. Gu expressed his gratitude for the preparation for the conference by GRIIS and OCIS and wished a great success of the conference. He hoped that GDUFS and OCIS could cooperate together to strengthen exchanges between Chinese and American students.

Prof. Shelton Williams thanked also the great effort by the host. He expected that more understanding could be achieved between American and Chinese students.

The Model APEC conference will last a week. The 120 delegates will represent 17 countries and region in Asian Pacific region to negotiate and discuss on five subjects: Energy, Internal Security, Trade and Investment, Food Security and Anti-Corruption and Transparency.
