First Visit of Weldon Epp, Canadian Consul-general to Guangzhou, to GDUFS

In the morning of May 15th, Weldon Epp, Canadian consul-general to Guangzhou, visitedGuangdong University of Foreign Studies. Yao Chengye, director of the office of South China Investment and Trade of BC Province of Canada and Wang Haidong, business assistant, accompanied the visit. Sui Guangjun, party secretary of GDUFS, met with them in the VIP room of north campus. Vice president Fang Fanquan, Chen Linhan, president assistant, Jiao Fangtai of the Office of International Cooperation, Li Qing of the Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies, and He Yuangui, the director of Canada Research Center and vice dean of Economic and trade Faculty, also attended the meeting.

Sui Guangjun warmly welcomed the visitors, and introduced the university from the perspectives of international strategy, the goal of education internationalization and the cultivation of international talents.

Weldon Epp said that Canada always attached great importance to education cooperation. They encourage Canadian students to study in China, and facilitate economic communication through education. He hoped that GDUFS could launch more cooperation projects so as to strengthen cooperation.

Yao Chengye wished deeper cooperation between GDUFS and BC province. She hoped that GDUFS could send teachers to receive training in Canada and start internship and exchange program for Canadian students.
