On the morning of Sep. 17th, the Opening Ceremony of 2012 Special Seminar on Learning the International Experience in Industrial Transformation and Upgrading was held in Octagon Conference Room, South Campus of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, with Provincial Party Committee Organization Department as sponsor and Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies of GDUFS as co-organizer. The parcipants include Zeng Xianghua, director of Cadres Training Department of Provincial Party Committee Organization Department, Zhong Weihe, president of GDUFS, Lu Jinghui, deputy secretary of Party Committee of GDUFS, Gu Yeli, the vice president, and Li Qing, secertary-general of GRIIS.
This seminar involved the deputy mayor of Guangzhou, deputy director of Provincial Development and Reform Commissions, top management leaders of enterprises and so on. To probe into the topic of industrial restructuring and upgrade, GRIIS arranged 7 reports and 2 on-the- sport investigations. The first report was given by Professor Wang Jun, the vice President of the Academy of Social Sciences in Guangdong Province, Professor of Lingnan College of Sun Yat-Sen University, doctoral supervisor and President of Higher Social Science Research Institute of Sun Yat-Sen University. He talked on the “Current situation and prospect of Chinese industrial restructuring and upgrade”. He mentioned the definition, history and the way of industrial restructuring. Expectedly, this report received a positive respond.

In the afternoon, the Korean professor Joo Hoon Kim made a special report on “Historical Review of Industrial Restructuring of Korea”. He analyzed his country’s industrialization process from 1950s to 2000s, which offered us experience. After Professor Kim’s report, the audience had a heated discussion with him and this seminar has reached a good accomplishment.
