On June 6th, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Guangdong “Going-Global” Studies and Collaborative Innovation Center for Foreign Language Study and Language Service were officially launched. The ceremony and meeting was held in the International Conference Hall on North Campus. Chen Yunxian, vice governor of Guangdong Province called to congratulate. The participants include leaders and representatives from Education Ministry, Guangdong Government, GDUFS and relative departments.

It is reported that the two Centers are important strategic measures of GDFUS to make full use of international talents and the advantage in international economy, trade and issue studies to cooperate with other universities, governments and publishing companies. It is in line with the document issued by Education Ministry and Financial Ministry to promote collaborative innovation and serving capacity. It aims to make greater contributions to China’s participation in global governance and Guangdong “going-global”.

The ceremony was hosted by Zhong Weihe and addressed by Sui Guangjun, the Party secretary. The Centers would integrate resources and conduct in-depth cooperation. They will build a win-win mechanism complementing each other's advantages, trying to build an interdisciplinary platform with high level and unique function in China’s innovation development and building of cultural power.

Xu Qingsen, director of Planning Division of Social Sciences Department of Education Ministry, mentioned that there were more than 400 Collaborative Innovation Centers in China. The Center in Arts should concentrate the research direction, build platforms, keep the scale and deepen the reform.

Ding Shouqing, deputy director general of Education Department of Guangdong Province, Huo Jianguo, president of Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Commerce, and Han Zhen, president of Beijing Foreign Studies University gave speeches respectively on the ceremony.
Li Qing, secretary general of GRIIS and Ran Yongping, chief editor of Modern Foreign Languages introduced the two Centers respectively. Other representatives of relative departments gave suggestions and advice from different perspectives.

In the afternoon, the two Centers held meetings for development strategy respectively. The leaders, experts and representatives from relative departments attended the meeting and discussed on the future development thought, direction and mechanism.
It is reported that the delegation of GDUFS led by He Chuantian, the vice president, has discussed on the establishment of the Centers with the other departments and organizations in Beijing, Tianjin and Guangzhou since June.
