At the invitation of DFG, Prof. Li Yongning, the research fellow of GRIIS, attended the international seminar of “Study on the Informal Mechanisms of Metropolis under the Background of Globalization (taking PRD and Ganges Delta as examples)” in Bonn, German. The seminar was organized by DFG. After the seminar, Li Yongning made academic exchanges with local experts from Dortmund University of Technology and Frankfurtmunicipal government.

Review of the Project Research in the Seminar
“Study on the Informal Mechanisms of Metropolis under the Background of Globalization (PRD and Ganges Delta)” is a major international cooperation project funded by DFG. This is a brand new interdisciplinary research category of international urban development and studies the challenges and countermeasures in the process of global governance. The research project was classified into different parts and there were 17 universities in German, 11 universities and their research institutions in China and Bengal involved in the research in varies ways. It took as long as ten years from the conceptual planning to project promoting and then to closing summary. As a member of the research group in University of Berlin and Kassel University, Li Yongning, from 2006 to 2011, mainly studies the development classification of metropolis in PDR and the urbanization features under the condition of globalization through empirical study. The achievements have been handed to DFG and published in German and other places.
