On the morning of 30thOctober, funded by the project of Lecture of Famous Foreign Scholar, Günter Heiduk, director of East Asian Research Institute and professor from School of Economics of Warsaw in Portland gave a lecture on “the Aging Population and European Welfare States”. The participants included postgraduates and doctoral candidates of European Studies and other schools in GDUFS. Cai Hong, deputy secretary general of GRIIS and director of Center for European Studies hosted the lecture.
Professor Heiduk analyzed the trend of European aging population in recent 60 years through charts and statistics at first. After explanations and examples, he finally drew the conclusion that European welfare policy was gradually normalized. Professor Heiduk also analyzed the EU member states’ social and labor market policy. He presented to the teachers and students a clear and in-depth knowledge of European welfare states mechanism.
