On Jan. 17th, GRIIS held the Conclusion Meeting of 2013. The attendants included Sui Guangjun, secretary of the Party Committee of GDUFS and executive deputy director of GRIIS, Chen Jianping, vice secretary of the Party Committee of GDUFS, Gu Yeli and Shi Youqi, vice presidents of GDUFS, the persons in charge of Development and Planning Division, Scientific Research Division, Personnel Division, Teaching Affairs Division, International Exchange Office, Publicity Division, Financial Division and Graduate Division, researchers of GRIIS, doctor and master supervisors of European studies, the persons in charge of the main projects in 2013 and the staff of GRIIS. The meeting was hosted by Gu Yeli.
Li Qing, secretary general of GRIIS, concluded the work of GRIIS in 2013 and made a report on the working plan of 2014. She introduced the primary achievements in research team building, academic activities, foreign exchanges and social services of GRIIS in four years and then pointed out the main problems to be solved, including making the research directions concise, integrating resources and enlarging influence. The next focus of GRIIS is building the “going global” database of Guangdong enterprises and the core researcher team.
Then, the leaders approved the achievements of GRIIS and attributed them to the reform and innovation of GDUFS in recent years. It showed that the university had found the right direction in the reform and innovation of scientific research, serving for government decision-making and building high level academic platform. The attendants also provided suggestions for GRIIS in terms of academic internationalization, website building, graduates cultivation, and research team building.
Sui Guangjun made the conclusion speech and gave the evaluation to GRIIS from three aspects: achievements, challenges and problems. He analyzed the challenges and problems of GRIIS in its development under the current situation.
He pointed out that GRIIS should conduct reform and innovation both internally and externally. It should make full use of the talents and policy special zones of the university and become the pilot of reform and innovation. On the other hand, it should improve the initiative cooperation with media to promote scholars of GDUFS to the society, enhance the academic influence and discourse power of GRIIS, and publish the achievements of GRIIS through more channels.
Sui Guangjun hoped the attendants to think over the question of how to build a first class think tank through reform and innovation of mechanism and put forward ideas when the new semester began.
Gu Yeli concluded the meeting spirit as building the first class think tank, keeping crisis awareness, pushing forward reform and innovation and forming the initiative academic influence.
