On the afternoon of April 15, GRIIS held a thematic meeting on its research work, which is also the 52th Yunshan Academic Salon. Participants include Sui Guangjun,the Party secretary of GDUFS and the executive deputy director of GRIIS, members of the innovation team of the Ministry of Education, members of database construction base and the staff of GRIIS. The meeting was chaired by Liu Jisen, deputy secretary general of GRIIS.
First, Sui Guangjun introduced the investigation in Southeast Asia, which was the first cooperation conducted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a domestic think-tank. GRIIS needs to be built into an influential and advanced think-tank of South China and even China. Besides, the distinctive features and advantages of GRIIS should be maintained and developed.
Later, the participants discussed about the research progress of the innovation team of the Ministry of Education, reported the latest research achievements, and analyzed the existing problems and the plans for the next two years. Sui Guangjun suggested that the entry point should be adjusted. The research background should be the drawback of the current global economic governance system, capability and structure.
During the third part of the meeting, Liu Jisen reported the situation of Guangdong “going-global” database construction and put forward the problems that should be solved.
At the end of the meeting, Sui Guangjun made the following suggestions for the innovation team and GRIIS: first, there should be theoretical innovation; second, some major realistic problems should be solved; third, research method should be improved and innovated; fourth, intellectual support to the country and government’s decision-making should be provided; fifth, a platform which can enhance external and internal exchanges should be built; sixth, a team of reliable talents should be built up and some influential experts shoulde be introduced.
