Entrusted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sui Guangjun,the Party secretary of GDUFS and the executive deputy director of GRIIS, together with his delegation went to Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore to for a research investigation, the theme of which is “the Maritime Silk Road and China-ASEAN Relations”. Members of the investigation group also include Zheng Zhenhua, director of the Department of Policy Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chen Wangling, director of the Research Center of International Economics and Trade.
During this period, Sui Guangjun and his delegation made in-depth exchanges with ASEAN Secretariat, Malaysian Institute of International Strategic Studies, Indonesian Institute of theStrategic and International Issues, Department of Asia-Pacific Affairs of Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of ASEAN Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Center of East Asian Studies of National University, Chinese Embassies and enterprises there. They learned their understanding of “China-ASEAN Relations” and “Maritime Silk Road” and asked for their suggestions about “bilateral and multilateral cooperation”.

This investigation is an innovative way for cooperation of the central and the local organizations, which reflects the great importance attached by the country to the construction of think-tanks and lays foundation to the construction of a more advanced and comprehensive Southeast Asian communication platform.
