On May 14, at the invitation of EIU, Prof. Liu Jisen, deputy secretary of GRIIS, together with Prof. Shen Minghao andDr.Huang Liangxiong, attended the 2014 EIU China Forum. The theme of this forum is “China: Preparing for Opportunity”. Robert Ward, editorial director of EIU, delivered a keynote speech entitled “the Global Economic Outlook” at the opening ceremony. Dr. Simon Baptist, chief economist and Asia regional director, also delivered a speech. The panel discussion on “Join Hands to Seek Overseas Success” was chaired by Xu Sitao, China’s regional director of EIU global forecast. The forum was subdivided into three sessions, which focused on issues such as “how to reevaluate the development strategy of China in the ever-changing market environment” from the perspectives of development in and outside China.
Liu Jisen exchanged ideas with Robin Bew, managing director of EIU and Dr. Liu Qian, deputy director of Chinese studies on “Guangdong ‘Going Global’ Database Construction” and discussed about how to make use of EIU authoritative data for Cantonese small and medium sized enterprises going global.
