From June 21 to 22, 2014, the Third World Peace Forum, hosted by Tsinghua University and the Chinese People's Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), was held in Beijing. Chairman of the Forum Tang Jiaxuan presided over the opening ceremony. State Councilor Yang Jiechi attended the meeting and made a speech. Zhang Yesui, Vice Foreign Minister and Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of the general staff of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) delivered speeches at the luncheon respectively on June 21 and 22. Prof. Chen Hanxi, deputy secretary-general of GRIIS and Prof. Zhou Fangyin were invited to this forum.
The World Peace Forum is the only unofficial security forum in China, and the world's most high-end one. Participants include former heads of governments of the countries all over the world, former senior diplomats, think tank experts, and renowned experts and scholars of Chinese universities and think tanks. At the Forum, hot issues such as international security were discussed and received widespread concern of the public at home and abroad.
Prof. Chen Hanxi and Prof. Zhou Fangyin actively participated in the discussion of group meetings and enhanced the academic influence of GRIIS.
