Xiao Gang not only compared the economic and social development models of China and Japan, but also analysed the impact of the earthquake to the Sino-Japanese relation. He started from the disaster assistance by China to Japan, and then compared Japan's different responses to assistances from China and the United States, which reflected the the diplomatic attitudes of Japan to the two sides. In addition, he also talked about the diplomatic strategy of the United States in Asia and the foreign relations postures of East Asia and Southeast Asia.
