From July 14thto 15th, under the appointment of Professor Li Qing, Secretary-general of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies, and Professor Xiao Yaofei, the Chief Researcher, Professor Liu Jisen, deputy secretary general of GRIIS, and post-doctor Chen Yonglin, the Researcher of GRIIS, attended the “the Annual Meeting of Academic Community of Politics and International Relations of2012”organized by the Institute of Modern International Relations of Tsinghua University. The meeting was held in Beijing Xijiao Hotel.
The participants were mainly from more than 70 universities and research institutes which are famous both at home and abroad, such as the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy, University of Rome in Italy, Poland-Asia Research Center, University of New South Wales in Australia, Waseda University in Japan, Seoul National University in South Korea, Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Macau, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Academy of Military Sciences. The meeting also attracted close to one thousand government officials, scholars, experts and graduate students from departments like Development Research Center of the State Council, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, China Defense Science and Technology Information Center, China Arms Control and Disarmament Association, China Energy Fund Committee, the Xinhua News Agency, China News Service, Global Times, and the Public Opinion Monitoring Department of People's Daily Online.
In the over 90 academic seminars of the annual meeting with the topic of “Dispute and Cooperation”, the representatives discussed the change of the international situation and system, focusing on the international and regional hot issues and the major changes and trends of the economic, political, security, and diplomatic situation. The two representatives of Guangdong Research Institute for International Strategies attended around 20 seminars and round-table conferences and made extensive contacts and communications with the participants.
