Professor Tang Xiaosong, chief research fellow of GRIIS, had an exclusive interview with reporter from the Shanghai Evening Post recently. He voiced his opinions on the current situation that social media had been exerting greater influence on the public than official websites. According to him, the advantage of Internet diplomacy lies in its convenience and flexibility. When the social media is making an increasingly important impact on foreign policy decisions, the government should establish a long-term strategy in case of the chaos of network society.
