Cai Hong took the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize as a start to introduce the successes and failures of the modern Europe. As to the “Europe fading theory” in the western public, Cai Hong pointed out that negativity was one of the basic features of European culture. There are doubts as well as concerns in the theory. With the clue of the European renaissance after the World War 2, she concluded that European model (EU) was an innovation and challenge to the traditional “Centralized national sovereignty theory”. The history has proved that crisis is a regular state and an engine for European integration. The current crisis is another chance to reform the European pattern and deepen European integration. However, Europe is now undergoing the most difficult time since WWⅡ. This crisis is comprehensive and systematic and different from all the previous ones. Europe’s ability to shift the crisis is limited by the internal and external environment and the current system and resources. In a long term, Europe will pull through the crisis, but should be well-prepared to its complexity, chronicity and repeatability.
