The Collaborative Innovation Center for 21st-CenturyMaritime Silk Road Studies (hereinafter referred to as the Center) is a keycollaborative innovation center of Guangdong province. WithGDUFS as the headquarter, the Center works with collaborators such as theInstitute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP) of CASS, the Chinese Academyof International Trade, China Centerfor Contemporary World Studies, International Department of CPPCC andEconomic Cooperation (CAITEC) of MOFCOM, Sun Yat-sen University, XiamenUniversity, China Institute of International Studies, the South China SeaInstitute of Oceanology (SCSIO) of CAS, Yunnan University, and JinanUniversity.
Focusingon major diplomatic and international issues of building the 21st-CenturyMaritime Silk Road from the consideration of cultural inheritance andinnovation, the Center endeavors to “meet the national goal, carry out high-qualityresearches, develop mechanism and make significant contribution”. The Center isoriented to national vital task and guaranteed by mechanism reform. With thisinitiative, the Center furthers its cooperation with high-level organizationsand setting up scientific and mutually beneficial mechanisms with other organizations.Thus it becomes more capable of innovation on talents training, disciplinebuilding and scientific research. The Center is to build a high-level andnew-type think-tank in higher education institute with Chinese characteristics,integrating functions of academic innovation, talents development andinternational exchange.

With theoretical guidance of buildingthe 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road and efforts in disciplinarydevelopment and talent training, the Center is dedicated to serving for thenational vital strategic demand and cultural inheritance and innovation,building a new and open economic system and implementing strategy ofrejuvenating Chinese nation. The Center is committed to fostering strongpartnership with think tanks along the Maritime Silk Road, building theMaritime Silk Road think tank network, promoting cultural exchanges, andtherefore enhancing the win-win cooperation and development between China andcountries along the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road.
