Prof. César de Prado received in 2002 his PhD from the European University Institute
(EUI.eu) in Florence with a thesis on Global Political Economy. He went back to the
EUI in 2014 as a Distinguished Visiting Scholar in the Global Governance Programme.
Currently he teaches at GIIS a course on the European Union, and is also a research
grantee at the Asia-Europe Comparative Studies Research Project of the Institute of
European Studies in Macau.
In his distinguished academic and professional career he has been at the EU-Japan
Centre for Industrial Cooperation in Tokyo (Japan), Barcelona Institute of International
Studies (Spain), University of Salamanca (Spain), University of Tokyo (Japan), College
of Europe – United Nations University in Bruges(Belgium), University of Lund
(Sweden), European Commission in Brussels (Belgium), Spanish Embassy’s Trade Section in Tokyo (Japan), and KPMG Peat Marwick in Madrid (Spain).
He can lecture inseveral European languages and is learning basic Chinese.
