Dr. WANG Luyao Talks about Sino-US “100-day plan”on The Paper
2017-04-16 15:30

Dr. WANG Luyao is a Research Fellow of GIIS. She published a short review on Sino-US “100-day plan” on The Paper.

Abstract:

Recently, media from China and abroad have reported on “Trump Backs Away From Labeling China a Currency Manipulator”, which has been confirmed by a U.S. Treasury spokesman.

The statement is the first stark about-face from Trump's campaign promises on China issues. Undoubtedly there are voices criticizing Trump as “symptomatic of a lack of real, tough action on trade” against Beijing, while some other observers regard this as a sound start for the “100-day plan” (i.e. the US and China agreed to anew 100-day plan for trade talks), demonstrating Trump’s willingness to partner China during his term. Reports reveal that this “100-day plan on economic cooperation” was initiated by China and agreed by the US, who hopes to reduce its trade deficit with China in the shortest time possible, and requires an “intermediate stop” to measure the process.
