Mr. Dai Bingguo Visited GIIS and Opined on Constructing New Think Tank
On November 21, Mr. Dai Bingguo, former State Councilor and Honorary President of the Collaborative Innovation Center for 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Studies and Guangdong Institute for International Strategies(GIIS), visited GIIS, and discussed international situation with scholars and gave instructions onbuilding new think tank. Moreover, he attended the inauguration of Institutefor African Studies.

On commission of Governor Zhu Xiaodan of Guangdong Province, on behalf of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Guangdong Provincial Government and in the nameof GIIS President, Ms. Zhao Yufang expressed appreciation to Mr. Dai Bingguo.Meanwhile, she introduced the economic development of Guangdong Province and theoutcome of the “Belt and Road” Initiative. Ms. Zhao also summarized GIIS’s previous achievements: active adjustment to domestic and international trendsand initiated the establishment of the Collaborative Innovation Center for 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road Studies and holding eventsincluding the China (Guangdong) International Think Tank Forum of the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road, China (Guangdong) – Vanuatu Seminar on Cooperation and China (Guangdong) – ASEAN Strategic Cooperation Forum. Moreover, she suggested that GIIS should promote joint researches with countries along the Beltand Road; further studies on Guangdong’s FTA system, international trade regimes and in-depth economic integration of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
