2022-04-30 21:54

On December 19, 2021, the 6th Emerging Markets (E30) Forum was held in Zhuhai, with the theme of “Emerging Economies: Developed Powers Still Dominant?”, and more than 20 guests from academia and business community attended the round-table forum.

Prof. Li delivered a keynote speech entitled “The Restructuring of Global Industrial Chain and the Safety of the Industrial Chain of Emerging Economies. In light of the summary of “the characteristics of the new global industrial chain restructuring”, Prof. Li focused on the analysis of “current risks of the industrial chain of emerging economies”. She pointed out the main features of the new global industrial chain restructuring were that in terms of the change of global development landscape, the number of dominant economic powers was increased from two to three in the context of the rise of emerging economies; in terms of promoting factors, technology-oriented digital economy had been a major driving force for the restructuring; in terms of obstructive factors, the global industrial chain had been caught in a plight of anti-globalization and pandemic. Then, Prof. Li broke down the risks faced by emerging economies in the global value chain from various perspectives: “the serious demand fluctuation of other countries has led to the demand-side decrease of emerging economies”; “single product economy featuring heavy reliance on energy and resources has increased the vulnerability of the industrial chain of emerging economies”; “industrial chain fragmentation between developed countries and emerging economies has caused low-end lock-in and polarization”.

The speech was highly appraised by the experts and scholars on the forum. In the conclusion part, Prof. Hu Biliang, dean of the Belt and Road School, Beijing Normal University, appreciated Prof. Li's cutting-edge perspectives and views, and said that Prof. Li’s speech was of great inspiration to the team’s research.

After the forum, experts and scholars exchanged views and took photos as a souvenir.
